Shelby Lindley (she/her/hers) is Syilx (Okanagan) and a member of the Upper Nicola community in Merritt, BC. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2012 from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC with a major in finance and a minor and environmental economics and sustainable development. Shelby received her Juris Doctorate from the University of British Columbia in 2016 with a specialization in aboriginal law.
Shelby has experience in First Nations taxation and her legal background has focused on indigenous law and building connections within her local communities. Upon completing her articles, Shelby began working with West Coast Environmental Law as a staff lawyer for the RELAW (Revitalizing Indigenous Law for Land, Air and Water) project. She is based out of Kamloops, and hopes to continue working with local indigenous nations to implement and enforce their own laws.
Shelby loves going camping and hiking with her two Cane Corso puppies and she recently welcomed her beautiful daughter Sophia in December of 2018.
