Environmental assessment, Impact Assessment Act, Bill C-69
Summary
In February 2018, the federal government tabled Bill C-69, which contains a new Impact Assessment Act to replace the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012. At the same time, it released two consultation papers on supporting regulations.
This brief, submitted to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency on the Consultation Paper on the Approach to Revising the Project List, recommends regulatory measures to ensure that the new Impact Assessment Act applies to a broad range of projects and activities that affect sustainability, in order to safeguard Canadians and the environment.
