Strengthening Bill C-19, an Act to Amend the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act : Submission to the Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development

We have read, and endorse the submissions of our colleagues at the Canadian Environmental Law Association, the Environmental Law Centre, and the Sierra Legal Defence Fund. In particular, we commend to this Committee the clause by clause recommendations prepared in the Canadian Environmental Law Association’s comprehensive brief. Their review has identified a number of internal changes that, if adopted and applied throughout, would strengthen the application of CEAA. Incorporating the following recommendations will also ensure that federal environmental assessment is better able to contribute to sustainable development.
