Letter regarding proposed amendments to the Impact Assessment Act

Fourteen leading Canadian environmental NGOs have signed a letter expressing disappointment over proposed amendments to the federal Impact Assessment Act within the 2024 Budget Implementation Act. Our concern focuses on the exclusion of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a federal consideration, which they argue would hinder climate action. Urging immediate government action, they stress the importance of retaining federal jurisdiction over GHG emissions within the Act to safeguard environmental accountability.
