The Aggregate Review: a West Coast Environmental Law Primer

Sand and gravel pits and quarries are the source of many environmental and community concerns, and are resulting in numerous regional conflicts in BC. We support this review of the framework regarding planning, approval and management of aggregate, and hope that the Review Panel will produce meaningful recommendations to reduce these conflicts. This Primer outlines five key issues for the public and the Panel to consider, and makes recommendations on policy and legislative changes to improve the way in which gravel pits and rock quarries are approved and operated in BC
