The BC government recently released its Environmental Assessment Revitalization Discussion Paper, which sets out proposals for what a new assessment process could look like and seeks public feedback.

In this backgrounder, West Coast analyzes the Discussion Paper against the Vision for Next-Generation Environmental Assessment in BC, which has been signed onto by a number of citizen groups and organizations across the province. Each of the 14 recommendations in the Vision are compared to the proposals in the Discussion Paper, including a summary of key positives and key areas to strengthen.
