Members of the press are invited to attend a joint announcement in Vancouver by a coalition of First Nations and civil society groups. Representatives from the following organizations will speak on the topic of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline and oil tanker project:

Coastal First Nations, an alliance of nine First Nations on B.C.’s North and Central Coast.

Dogwood Initiative, B.C.’s largest nonpartisan democracy group.

Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union.

West Coast Environmental Law Association, BC's legal champion for the environment since 1974.

Douglas Channel Watch, a local volunteer group in Kitimat.

One Cowichan, a citizen group on Vancouver Island.
Spokespeople from each group will be in Vancouver and available for individual interviews following the wrap-up of the news conference.
